Getting started

From a fresh install to your first dictation.

  1. 01Install TetherVoice and launch it. It appears in the menu bar, with no Dock icon.
  2. 02Grant microphone access when prompted.
  3. 03Grant Accessibility access in System Settings, then relaunch if asked.
  4. 04Download a model. Start with Base — it is the best balance of speed and accuracy for general dictation.
  5. 05Set your hotkey under Settings → Shortcuts. The default is Fn.
  6. 06Focus any app, hold your hotkey, speak, and release. The text appears at your cursor.
